Lee founded Maverick in 1993. Before that, he was a Managing Director of Tiger Management. He serves on the Executive Committees of the boards of the Robin Hood Foundation, the Partnership for New York City, and the Economic Club of New York. He also serves on the boards of the Boys Club of New York, the Maverick Capital Foundation, and the New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
Lee is a Gold Plate Award recipient from the Academy of Achievement. He holds a B.S. in systems engineering from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina.
Ambar has spent nearly 20 years investing in early-stage healthcare and technology companies. Prior to joining Maverick in 2015, Ambar was an investor at Bessemer Venture Partners and Bain Capital Ventures. He previously led growth at MinuteClinic, which was acquired by CVS during his tenure. Ambar serves as an advisor to the California Healthcare Foundation Innovation Fund and is an Aspen Institute Health Innovators Fellow. In 2025, Ambar was included in Forbes’ Midas Brink List of the world’s best venture capital investors.
Ambar holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. and B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
Prior to Maverick, Lexi was on the founding team and led finance & strategy at a venture-backed healthcare startup called TMRW Life Sciences. She helped scale the company through product launch and Series C stage. Before that, Lexi worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley. She is on the junior board of The Chick Mission, a nonprofit helping newly diagnosed cancer patients access fertility preservation.
Lexi holds an M.B.A. from Stanford and a B.A. from Yale University.
Ryan has spent nearly a decade investing in early-stage companies, most recently as a Partner at Felicis. Ryan started his career in investment banking at Credit Suisse.
Ryan holds an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College.
Before joining Maverick in 2018, Prateesh was an early employee and the Director of Finance & Strategy at Oscar Health, a health insurance startup that went public in 2021 (NYSE: OSCR). Before that, he was a healthcare investor at Bain Capital Credit. Prateesh sits on the board of Operation Access, a healthcare non-profit.
Prateesh holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Before joining Maverick in 2004, David was the founding CEO of three startups which all became public companies: Affymetrix (NASDAQ: AFFX), Corcept Therapeutics (NASDAQ: CORT) and Genesoft Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: OSCI). As an investor for the past 20+ years, David has served on the boards of 28 private companies including seven that went public during his service. He is Vice Chair of College Track and is a Lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. In 2023, 2024 and 2025, David was included in Forbes’ Midas List of the world’s best venture capital investors.
David holds an M.B.A. from Stanford and a B.A. from Yale University.
Before joining Maverick in 2005, Ginessa was a corporate lawyer at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP.
Ginessa received her B.S. from the University of Texas at Austin, and her J.D. from the University of Michigan. Ms. Avila is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association.
Prior to Maverick, Katherine was an attorney at at Sidley Austin LLP. She specialized in private investments and M&A transactions for investors and their portfolio companies.
Katherine holds a J.D. from Harvard and a B.A. from Rice University.
Suzanne has been with Maverick since 2003 and serves as the CFO of Maverick Capital and Maverick Ventures. Suzanne previously worked in hedge fund and broker-dealer audit at Ernst & Young.
Suzanne holds an M.S.A. and B.B.A. in Accounting from Texas Tech University.
Before joining Maverick, Arnold worked in BizOps and Finance at Amazon and was most recently the Head of Portfolio Finance at Kleiner Perkins. Prior to that, he worked at Ernst & Young in the Financial Due Diligence, Valuation & Business Modeling, and Assurance groups.
Arnold holds an MAcc and BAFM from the University of Waterloo. He is a CFA charterholder, CPA and CBV.
